BALTIMORE, MD. Bob Brandon is proud to announce his latest waterfront development, Port Covington Maritime Center. Located on the south side of Locust Point, Port Covington is the next “Hot Spot” on Baltimore’s Waterfront. It will feature 8 acres of prime waterfront land that is home to the newest and most modern boat repair facility on the Chesapeake. Some of the amenities are a two story 6000 sq ft office and retail building connected to a 9,000 sq ft repair building with 30 foot high doors and can accommodate vessels up to 55 feet in length, and a paved and lighted outdoor boat storage area with year round water and electric. Haul outs will be handled with 35 ton and 75 ton Travelifts installed on concrete runways with 18 feet of water depth at MLW. A 20 ton forklift is available for outdoor rack storage for boats up to 40 feet. |

All construction is geared to be “green” and the use of living roofs, sustainable construction, and functional landscaping will be incorporated wherever possible. One very unique feature is a rainwater collection system that will supply water to the pressure washers used for bottom washing. The waste water will be collected in sediment pits and then pumped to a living machine (engineered wetlands) where the water will be further treated before discharge. Dr. Patrick Kangas of the Biological Resources Engineering Department at the University of Maryland is consulting on this phase of the project. It is hoped that this system can be perfected and used at other marinas. |
